PG Department of Biochemistry

The department of Biochemistry is situated in the spacious location of the First floor of our college building It is imparting Undergraduate teaching & also catering important investigations relating to the Diagnosis & management of the patient admitted in various clinical departments of Hi-tech Medical College & Hospital .This Department is also involved with various investigations of patients attending Out-patient Department (OPD). The Department of Biochemistry is an important section of Central Laboratory which is running 24 hrs in this Medical College.The instruments mentioned are used in the Laboratory for various investigations.

Departmental Library

The department library has an exhaustive collection of textbooks in forensic medicine, toxicology and allied subjects. The library includes complete series of the following journals:

• Journals of the Orissa Medico-Legal society.
• Journal of Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine.
• Journal of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology.
• Forensic Science International.
• The American Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology.
• Medicine, Science and the Law.
• American Journal of forensic Sciences.

Departmental Museum

It is one of the best museums with excellent collection of colored photographs of different types of cases, soft specimens, bones, whole skeletons, fire arms, weapons, histopathology slides, poisonous plants/ Chemicals/ animals and other specimens. These specimens are arranged in cubicles representing different subject subdivisions such as Jurisprudence, Forensic Identity, Thanatology, Asphyxia, Trauma, Forensic Ballistics, Sexual Jurisprudence, and Toxicology. There are facilities for small group teaching in the museum during practical hour training.

Computer Facilities

There are facilities for on-line computer literature searches via the College computer network and for the usual departmental work. All records are stored in the computers including the medico-legal records of the expert opinion cases for ready references.

Laboratory Facilities

There is a spacious practical laboratory (Fig) with equipments i.e. Microscope, X ray viewing box, Chemical balance etc for undergraduate student practical training purposes.

Photography Facilities

There are sophisticated photographic equipments like- SLR cameras, Digital Video Camera etc for the use of Medico-legal work.

Seminar Room

A common seminar room, with all modern facilities of audiovisual systems.

Demonstration Room

There is a demonstration room with modern teaching aids, which accommodates 100 students.

Lecture Halls

The theatre style setup of the lecture halls provides better view of the blackboard from all angles and better acoustics. The lecture halls are also equipped with LCD projectors for the slide shows/The large and airy conference halls are ideally designed for guest lectures, demonstrations and seminars. There are five lecture theatres, one in the hospital and four in the college.

Well-equipped library with the choicest collection of book and reference materials and case studies available in the library. Spacious corridors provide enough moving space. HMCH has ensured that the students are provided computers in adequate numbers; the students are given individual and group projects and case studies to help them hone their skills.
